Benefits of Lemon Water



Been practicing this habit for a few weeks now and thought I'd share why I started! I just pour hot water in a mug and squeeze about 1/2 a lemon in! Lemon juice would work too! Don't over think it. One thing to keep in mind: lemon is acidic and can wear on tooth enamel, so always follow your warm lemon water with a rinse!

Drinking any water, especially warm water, first thing in the morning can help flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body

The liver is extremely active during sleep since this is the body’s time to restore and regenerate. There is even some evidence that lemon juice can help stimulate proper stomach acid production and bile production.

One lemon contains about 30-50 milligrams of vitamin C & they also contain potassium

By helping flush the body & improve digestion, lemon water can lead to clearer skin. The vitamin C it contains is needed for collagen production which aids in smooth, healthy skin


Healthy Weight

There is evidence that drinking water, especially lemon water, first thing in the morning can help maintain a healthy weight. One study from Germany found that drinking enough water increased metabolism in the test group. "After drinking approximately 17 ounces of water, the subjects’ metabolic rates — or the rate at which calories are burned — increased by 30% for both men and women. The increases occurred within 10 minutes of water consumption and reached a maximum after about 30 to 40 minutes."
