DIY Toothpaste

You might not think much of the ingredients in your toothpaste, but your mouth is actually one of the most absorbable places in your body! And especially if you have littles, they usually end up swallowing a lot. Even if you're spitting most out, your gums still absorb a fair amount and those toxins get a free pass into your bloodstream. By making this simple switch, you'll ditch the following ingredients found in most conventional toothpastes: fluoride (neurological and endocrine dysfunction - more sources linked in my toothpaste highlight), triclosan (endocrine-disruptor, linked to cancer), SLS (produces carcinogenic byproduct, environmental hazard), aspartame or other artificial sweeteners, propylene glycol, and many more.

This recipe uses ingredients that are not only non-toxic, but HELPFUL to your body like coconut oil, bentonite clay, & essential oils 🙌🏻 Not to mention, it is so much more affordable to make it on your own! Loading some stories now with an updated video tutorial walking you through it.

If you prefer to buy your toothpaste but are looking for a non-toxic option, @redmondlife and @risewellco are both great options! I'll link them in stories!

🦷 DIY TOOTHPASTE 🦷

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil

  • 3 tbsp bentonite clay

  • 2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 tsp himalayan sea salt

  • 20 drops essential oil of choice (some of our faves are peppermint, spearmint, lemon, or clove!)

  • 1/2 tsp activated charcoal for whitening (optional - I put this in mine but leave out of the kids because it can be messy if there's spit splatter 🙈)

  • 1/8 - 1/4 cup filtered water (until desired consistency)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl (**do not use metal bowl or spoon when working with bentonite clay!) & store in glass mason jar. It's seriously THAT simple! My kiddos help me make it every time and they all use it without issue!
