Foods High in Cysteine (N-AC)

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a supplement form of the amino acid cysteine, and was recently banned for public sale by the FDA, now requiring a prescription.

NAC helps replenish glutathione, arguably your body’s most powerful antioxidant. NAC’s antioxidant and expectorant capacity can improve lung function by decreasing inflammation as well as breaking up mucus.

I'm a huge proponent of getting nutrients from food, so here's a list of foods containing high levels of cysteine.

  • Eggs

  • Beef

  • Chicken

  • Lentils

  • Oatmeal

  • Yogurt

  • Pork

  • Sunflower Seeds

  • Cheese

Eat on, friends ✌🏻
