Tarte Recipe

This tarte is a staple in our home! No joke - we eat this at least 3 times a week! Thankfully we have lots of chickens to supply the eggs 😅 I'm not sure tarte is the right word for it -- it tends to be more on the dense side. But we've always said tarte, so it stuck 😆 FYI: it's normal for it to puff up in the oven! It will deflate when cooling.

It comes together & is oven ready in under 10 minutes and is a meal our whole family loves - double win for this busy mama! And the combinations are endless! Here's the recipe below!

Tarte Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 large eggs (10 if they're small)

  • 3 cups flour

  • 2 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 600 ml (2.5 cups) cream or milk

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup

  • 2 apples or pears (blueberries or raspberries work too!)

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375°.

  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla, honey & milk. Add the flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg & mix until combined.

  • Grease a 9x13 dish (2 smaller dishes works too!) and pour in your mixture.

  • Slice your apple or pear very thin and layer over the top. If using berries, just plop some evenly around the dish.

  • Bake for 45-55 minutes. Tarte is done when it puffs up and is no longer wet in the center.

  • This feeds our family of 5 (who eat regular food) and we never have leftovers. You can always half it!

Enjoy!

Looks delicious! Can you use spelt flour? Same amount?
